FREEDOMS Foundation (Foundation for Research and Education for the Eradication of Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolic Syndrome) was formed to address the growing medical problem of our times, namely diabetes and obesity, other wise known as the metabolic or insulin resistance syndrome.

What Is Unique About The FREEDOMS Approach?

- Over 300 children have been successfully treated for weight loss. Offering weekly screening/clinical programs in the New York & Greenwich area

- screening and treating the family together to explore common genetic and lifestyle factors girls suffering from type 1 diabetes have a 1:4 chance of having thyroid problems and of the ones that do, there is a 50:50 chance the their mothers' will have the same condition.

- emphasis on the screening of children. At present, we are treating the symptoms of adults - early screening of children can go a long way in disease prevention.

- identification of markers that predict the onset of type 1 diabetes and insulin resistance syndrome.

- for the many who are frustrated with unsuccessful attempts to lose weight, the Foundation combines screening with safe medication and weight loss programs.
