Male pattern baldness (in women and teenage girls): This distressing problem relates to the over-production of androgens (male like hormones) from the ovary and/or adrenal gland, or undue sensitivity to these hormones at the level of the hair bulbs. Diagnostic tests done at the Clinic will indicate which of these causes pertains to you, so that a specific treatment program can be developed for you. Most patients will be found to have underlying metabolic (insulin resistance) syndrome discussed elsewhere. |
